About Pam!

I am a dedicated mother, devoted wife, good friend, hardworking employee and an active volunteer within my community. I have decided that it is time for me to finally make a decision on what I want to be when I grow up. This was not a difficult choice for me, it just took a while to get the courage to know exactly what I am best at. Currently I am enrolled at Indiana State University in the Communications/Public Relations program. I am minoring in Business and will hopefully follow my degree with the Non-Profit Leadership Certification. With this education backing my experiences within this field I know I will do good things in this world.

My passion has led me to volunteer my time with the local chapter of the American Cancer Society (ACS) which steered me to decide my new career path in public relations. My parents are cancer survivors and my best friend, Kris Eaton, lost her battle in 2011 to lung cancer which devastated me. My goal is to educate friends and family on cancer awareness and hopefully no one else I love will have to endure this dreadful disease. Along the way maybe I will extend this knowledge to others and encourage them to change their habits to better themselves and spread the awareness that cancer never sleeps.

I have been an active volunteer in the community since I was a teenager fundraising or assisting with events for our church and other local charitable organizations. I have been involved with ACS for just over 5 years now and most recently was Chairperson for the 2012 Relay For Life event representing Vigo County benefiting the American Cancer Society raising just over $40,000. My involvement doesn’t stop when the event is over. This blog will assist me to branch out to a much broader audience advocating cancer awareness, reporting cancer research, marketing fundraising opportunities and networking within the non-profit world. Take care and thanks for checking out “What’s Fresh With Pam”.
